Lychnis Mountain

Raff came up with this 4-day backpacking plan. We got permit to camp little bit farther from Baker Lake campground in Skoki. This is a trip report from the 2nd day, we went to Lychnis Mountain. According to the summit register, we were like 7th or so in last 20 years.

To camp spot:
We rode bike, pushed bike, then walked and walked and walked and bushwhacked.

To col (GR709050):
From the camp, there was no difficulty. Just hike up. However it is about 450m elevation gain, so it's bit of work.

Glacier:
Right after the col, we had to drop off little bit to traverse glacier. I didn't see any crevasses, but certainly required to put crampons. Otherwise I would have slipped and the icy glacier with little rocks on the surface would have ripped my pants and sexy thong.

North Ridge:
We didn't stayed on the ridge. Instead we avoided the snow then got on to the ridge (See page 16). The ridge is an easy walk until near the summit. Now I am writing the report 2 years later, I don't remember clearly, but I think it wasn't difficult enough to call it difficult scrambling, but little more difficult than average moderate scrambling (Page 22 and 24).
