My GPS went wild again below treeline. Please use my track as general guide at low elevation.
I only had a half day, so I decided to go for a morning quick hike. I parked my only one in the world, #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. super car at a parking lot just south of Banff Gate Mountain Resort. There are quite few trails and forks, I strongly suggest bringing your map. At GR216542 (if my GPS reading is accurate), I found a cairn and narrower trail growing on left side of the main trail (page 2). Take the small trail because this trail is a shortcut and also can avoid elevation loss. Once the trail opens up at above treeline, there were some steep sections. Since trail is still dirt, the steep section will be very slippery when muddy, I suggest to try Wind Ridge when it’s dry. This popular hiking trail actually has a scramble part. The trail leads to exactly where you should scramble at a rockband (page 9). I found easy lines to scramble up. Either way use ledges for steps.
Note: This trail is closed from Dec 1st to Jun 15th.
