Pink line is the actual track I took which was recorded by my GPS. This is little different from traditional route. We took a short cut which is still a good trail but steeper than the normal NE trail. Our trail will merge to the traditional trail at the chimney. Right after the chimney, go to the left and walk along the ridge. There are good scrambles and depending on your skill and comfort level, you can choose from advanced to expart.4 (moderate to climber's scramble in scramble book's rating). Actually it's climbing route rather than climber's scramble.

Due to an expected bad weather on this weekend, we decided to do a weekday evening hike at Yamnuska.

Our short cut route, there was still well established trail.

At the chimney, we decided to challenge a 'doable' scramble.

That big rock at the end gave me a good challenge.

Ali followed. His face tells the story.

Well looking up the wall from the bottom looked 'doable' but from the side the wall looked pretty much vertical… Actually it IS VERTICAL and it was like 20 to 25 m high. The actions from four previous pages happened right here. Highlighted rock is the rock gave me trouble (Mouse over). Looking at the wall from bottom and side are two different stories I learned... The chimney pass is down at the bottom of this picture where it darkens.

As expected ridge may be 100% vertical cliff but is not narrow.

Looking at east. Once daylight was gone, I could see lights from Calgary.

Once wasn't enough, we did second beyond-scrambling scramble. This is climbing without a rope. Harder than lower 5th class I have done, so avoid it if you are not up for it. Sucks to be Ali's parients, wife or girlfriend.

Wil took a different route, but from here his route still look difficult.

I have seen this cliff face somewhere, maybe one of the books I have.

We took too much time playing around scrambling, I thought we would miss sunset. The peak is still little bit more to go.

Ok ok, we did missed sunset… I blame Ali.

I am not sure but maybe it might have been full moon.
