Weather forecast was promisingly good, but the actual weather was even better. Since weather was so good, I wanted to do some bigger peak than what I have been doing for the first time since my injury to test out. So I thought Mount Haffner should be good one for that.
I took slightly different route from ascent and descent. My descent route is little bit more efficient route in distance but other than that both routes are pretty much the same. Parked at Numb Creek Parking and immediately went up and up and up between burned trees. Getting closer to Vermillion - Haffner col, I made a big curve toward Haffner. The rest of the way up to the summit was another slog.

As always burned trees at Kootenay.

Snow was super hard at bottom 400 m, but as I went up higher snow got fresher and softer. After a while, snow got heat up and got heavy soft snow to make my trail breaking tougher.

I like to stop at Canmore to got hot French vanilla not at Tim Hortons but at Esso's Tim Hortons machine in winter and Mac's milkshake in summer. (If you don't know Tim and Esso in Canmore is next to each other LOL). The advantage of stopping at Esso is 1) normally no lineups. 2) you can walk to Mac for salty poteto fry (after peakbagging, salty fry tastes so good) 3) you can fill gas although gas in Canmore is expensive.
