This was my first time scrambling in Jasper area, I was escorted by a veteran, Vern Dewit, the author of explor8ion.com. He had an unheard-of plan for this weekend. We camped at Pocahontas Campground where a black bear wanders around. We woke up 5:00 am and got ready for 2 summit day. By completing Pyramid Mountain and Cinquefoil Mountain in the same day, we conquered total of near 3100 m elevation. The first objective was Pyramid Mountain. I like summiting peaks with a cool name, this one for sure qualifies.

We parked at the end of Pyramid Lake Road just passed Pyramid Lake Resort. We biked Pyramid Fire Road for 12 km. About 7.6 km from the parking, we came to a fork (waypoint "Sign"). We continued to the left. From this point, the trail became rougher. After 4.4 km more, finally we reached the bottom of Pyramid (waypoint "Switch") and we switched our gear to scrambling. 12 km / 850 m ele gain with bike is quite hard, so be prepped to take the pain.

From the Fire Road, you can clearly see the entire scramble route, so it's might be good idea to stop and see the route while you are biking (see page 2). As described in Kane's book, we followed the north ridge and the ridge pretty much went all the way to the summit. One noticeable characteristic here was that the ridge was one long boulder terrain and the rock wasn't typical sharp limestone. I personally liked it.

We descended the same way and enjoyed the downhill ride.

Pyramid's north face was pretty much white, but the ridge was mostly dry.
