Big Sister

The last peak in Kane's Canmore section, Big Sister. I heard good things about this peak but unfortunatly I didn't like it. Booo!

Mount Bogart

Mount Bogart, west ridge route. And more importantly I found the greatest discovery of the Canadian Rockies.

Buller Creek Peaks

I had wow moment at the summit of unnamed peak, "Buller Creek Peaks". Late start really made the scenery beautiful as sun was slowly setting.

Buller Pass Circuit

After one miserably failed attempt in winter, I decided to go back to Red Peak (North Buller Pass Peak) again in summer condition with Shaun.

Mount Buller

Surprisingly unpopular peak, Mount Buller. Maybe it's something to do with the slab, but rewards at the summit was awesome.

Burstall Pass

Skiing at Burstall Pass. Snow wasn't quite deep enough but still we had few runs to enjoy. It was a good backcountry skiing practice for me.

I am pretty sure it is not only me who love snow mountains and meadows (at least to look at). Burstall Pass was the perfect place to experience such "winter" feeling.

Short but steep terrain, and yet walking on narrow ridge was worth doing for the view. I met crazy scramblers at the top.

Unnamed peak I had an eye on for a year. 'Mount Chesmill' I nicknamed at GR239274 offered far better view than I anticipated.

Chester Lake

Snowshoe trip to ever so popular, Chester Lake. However it was my first time being there. Unlike the day before weather was so nice.

Joined up with Meetup's Scrambers. Under ok weather we headed to Chester Lake ski touring.

After slept in late, I still wanted to go for 3000er, so I picked Mount Chester. I expected to have a decent weather, but it snowed.

WOW. One word to describe this scramble especially I wasn't too interested in this one before the hike. It was like enjoying watching an unexpectedly great movie.

Most of my hardcore party members skipped this hike at Mount Engadine. So it came down to Mark, the boss, from UK vs the man from Japan!

The Fortress

Waited for a beautiful summar day to do the Fortress, Chester to Headwall Lakes traverse. Weather wasn't great but it was still a wonderful day.

Journey to gather all the fortune to win a lottery. After years of research, I found an ancient treasure map kept hidden for centuries which I found at MEC. "M M M Mount Fortune? It must be IT!!" I thought.

I have done more than 30 hikes here in the Rocky Mountains, but I have never hiked glacier before, so this time, I decided to go to Haig Glacier.

Hiking in winter is tough. Mount James Walker wasn't an exception. It was long and long and long, but at the end of the day, there was the reward I was looking for… Beautiful view!!

Back to Lougheed but not the big peaks, this time it was Little Lougheed just West of Mount Lougheed. Seeing Lougheed from Little Lougheed reminded me of the fun I had in last summer.

Hardcore route, climber's scramble. Doing the face of Kananaskis, 3 of the 4 peaks of Mount Lougheed was milestone of my scrambles. All 3 aspects, difficultly, distance, and elevation gain was top of the chart.

Mount Morrison & Owl Peak

Up high on alpine, there is beautiful meadow and a lake. But Mount Morrison is opposite of that. The summit face is a slabfest.

Mt. Warspite to Mt. Invincible

Unexpectedly the longest and most crazy scramble so far in my life. Traverse of Warspite to Invincible started normal but ended with a surprise.

Mount Nestor Attempt

A long and hard ascent at Mount Nestor. We almost made it to the peak but not quite. The snow covered summit ridge shut us down. Not quite success, but not quite failure neither hummm…

North Buller Pass Peak Attempt (Red Peak)

The 4th hike of 2010 and the first failure of 2010. We tried to go to North Buller Pass Peak but we ended up just east of Mount Buller summit.

North Kent Outlier

A short hike at North Kent Outlier. I could take a good view of Kent Ridge for a future trip maybe. Fairly a long distance above treeline would have given a great view if weather was nicer.

Old Goat Glacier

Small glacier near Spray Lakes, but as early as I went, it wasn't a small glacier. It was a huge dump of snow area between deep canyons.

Read's Tower

What a day I had at Read's Tower in Kananaskis. After 6 consecutive dull weather, I certainly deserve this beautiful blue sky and low cloud.

Red Ridge

My top 5 hike in 2009 came right at the end of the year. The view was superb and yet another bonus, the weather was so nice to us.

Rimwall Summit

It was supposed to be an intermediate hike but we spend more time than I expected, maybe due to the weather. It was the harshest weather of the year, but we all proved we were not quitters!!

Mount Smuts

The grand prize from Kane's scramble book, Mount Smuts. If you consider yourself a hardcore scrambler, you have to have this one in your resume.

Smutwood Peak

With COC, I went to "Smutwood Peak". It has been in my to-do list and yes it didn't disapointed me. Beautiful place it was.

Snow Peak

I took my roommate Alla to a too-long hike for an occasional hiker, but she handled very well. The view of Burstall Pass was so awesome.

South Buller Pass

Maybe I went there little too late. The view would have been better if it was pure green like in summer.

No matter how many times I go there, Buller Pass is enjoyable. This time I aimed for the unnamed south peak from south pass.

Mount Sparrowhawk 09

Second time scrambling Mount Sparrowhawk. Among the tallest peaks of Kananaskis offers such a spectacular view from the top.

3 times in 3 years in a row. I was once again at the top of Mount Sparrowhawk but this time it wasn't because of my choice but I was forced to join COC event.

One of the tallest mountain I have hiked in Canadian Rockies. Despite of heavy smoke in the air, the view was terrific.

Tent Ridge

Little cold but under beautiful sky, I went for a mid-long hike at Tent Ridge in KC. Climate wise, and snow wise, winter is almost there.

Three Lakes Valley

Ever since I came to Three Lakes Valley in summer I wanted to come back in winter. So here it is despite of cold wind, I was still satisfied.

Even though this officially unnamed mountain is in the popular book, not too many people hike this one.

Another unknown but will try anyway trip to south ridge of The Tower. I didn't make it to the south peak but still was very satisfying day.

My 100th successful peak ascents of 2010. More technical with snow condition and late start hurt us little but in return we had beautiful sunset.
